“My work was on hold. I had to do something to cope somehow with the fear of uncertainty. Thanks to DataCamp I realised this was an interesting direction for me. … Right now I work in this field.”

SvitlanaLearner in TEEI’s DataCamp group

Робота була на паузі. Треба було щось робити, щоб якось справлятися зі страхом невизначеності. Завдяки DataCamp я зрозуміла, що це цікавий напрям для мене. … Наразі я працюю в цьому напрямку

Svitlana is one of the learners in TEEI’s group on DataCamp. Since March 2022 they have studied there at no cost to them, through DataCamp Donates. Here is the group in numbers, each with the day it was read.

Six numbers in two rows. Hours on the platform 77,374, plus 2,428 in the last 30 days, since March 2022, read 7 October 2026. Members who earned XP 2,152, plus 99 in the last 30 days, read 7 October 2026. Courses completed 15,979, counted once per learner. Learners who completed courses 1,576, at least one course each. Projects completed 2,830, guided and unguided. Certifications 193, granted to 121 learners. The last four cover 31 October 2023 to 12 October 2026.

How DataCamp works

DataCamp is its own learning platform, outside TEEI’s sites. DataCamp builds and runs the courses, the code editor, the exercises, the tracks, the projects and the certifications. A course has lessons and exercises. In a coding exercise, the learner writes code in DataCamp’s editor and submits it. If she is stuck, she can take a hint or show the answer, and she then earns less XP, or none.

DataCamp uses AI to generate practice exercises from the course content, usually five to a workout, with instant feedback, as DataCamp’s help centre describes it. A track sets courses in sequence toward one skill or one role, and a finished course or track gives a Statement of Accomplishment. A project applies the skills to a real-world problem, with step-by-step guidance or without it. A certification is DataCamp’s own exam. It covers a role such as data analyst, a technology such as SQL, or a theory area such as AI Fundamentals.

DataCamp's public exercise page for Introduction to Python, chapter 1, exercise 6, shown in three parts with numbered notes. One, the top of the page names the course the exercise belongs to. Two, the exercise, where she writes code in DataCamp's editor, runs it and submits it, with the Edit and Run Code button. Three, the course block with its four chapters. Under them, two rows. Inside a course: an exercise sits in a chapter in a course, and practice is made at chapter and course level, about five AI-generated exercises to a workout. Next to the courses: tracks, courses in sequence toward one skill or one role; projects, guided or unguided; certifications, not based on one course.

Through DataCamp Donates, DataCamp gives the learners in TEEI’s group the full curriculum, including new courses as they are added, and the certifications. They also have premium access to DataLab, DataCamp’s online IDE.

“First of all, thank you for the opportunity to study for free on this wonderful platform, and second, its main advantage, as I see it, is the tracks to certificates, thanks to which I can see where I am heading. Because before this I studied for the sake of studying, and often it did not lead to anything useful.”

YehorLearner in TEEI’s DataCamp group

What the learners did there

DataCamp’s daily data for the group runs from 31 October 2023 to 12 October 2026. The learners have studied in every full month of it.

Bars for 34 months, January 2024 to October 2026, with the year totals over them: 2024 24,071 hours, 2025 32,894 hours, 2026 17,717 hours to 12 October 2026. The highest bar is February 2025, 3,687 hours from 550 learners. October 2026 is pale, 762 hours counted to 12 October 2026.

Learners choose their own courses, and the choices cluster. In that window, 1,576 learners completed 15,979 courses between them, each course counted once per learner. Data manipulation and programming lead by topic, and Python and SQL by tool.

Two ranked lists of bars. Completed courses by DataCamp's topic, led by data manipulation and programming, then artificial intelligence, data visualization, data engineering. Completed courses by tool, led by Python and SQL, then theory with no tool, Power BI, Tableau, Excel. Eight of each shown.

Many learners go beyond single courses. In the same window, 218 learners completed a career track and 293 a skill track, and DataCamp granted 193 certifications to 121 learners.

Three ranked lists of bars, the four most common of each. Career tracks, 218 learners, led by Associate Data Analyst in SQL. Skill tracks, 293 learners, led by SQL Fundamentals. Certifications, 193 to 121 learners, led by Data Analyst Associate.

Where DataCamp sits in TEEI’s programmes

The self-paced study happens on DataCamp, on DataCamp’s own site. Around it, TEEI runs programmes where a learner uses what she learns with other people. A live session with a professional, a conversation with a volunteer, a mentor. She can use any of them alongside DataCamp, in any order, or on their own.

Skills Academy, a workshop page: live sessions with a professional, workshops, clinics, expert Q&As. TEEI Language, a one-to-one conversation room: conversation in English with a volunteer, one to one or in a Speaking Club, and a line that TEEI Language Courses, online classes with a teacher, are a separate offer. TEEI Mentorship, a learner's home page: a mentor who helps her choose what to learn next. A line below: in any order, none of it is a ladder. The screens show sample data.

Skills Academy

Skills Academy is TEEI’s learning environment for professional skills. DataCamp is one of the self-paced resources in it. A learner asks for access from her Skills Academy account. A person on the TEEI team adds her to the group, and the invitation comes from DataCamp.

The other side of the Academy is live. Professionals teach workshops, clinics, expert Q&As, webinars and classes in their own field, in TEEI’s video room. That is where she brings her DataCamp work and her questions. On DataCamp she learns the method. In the room she hears how a professional uses it at work.

TEEI Language

A result is one thing. Explaining to a colleague, in English, how she got there is another.

In TEEI Language, a learner practises that with a person. In a one-to-one conversation with a volunteer she brings her own topic, and a finished DataCamp project is a good one. In a Speaking Club, a host sets the topic for the group. TEEI Language Courses are a separate offer: online language classes with a teacher, with content from Babbel and Oxford University Press.

TEEI Mentorship

A mentor in TEEI Mentorship is a professional with experience in the field a learner is moving towards. A mentor helps her choose what to study on DataCamp, apply it to real work and plan the next step. Later, the mentor helps her show what she can do, in a CV or an interview. She does not need a finished course to book one.

“[DataCamp] really did play a very big role; I am endlessly grateful for this free access. It helped me a lot to develop useful skills for data analytics; thanks to it I got an internship, and now I keep learning and am already looking for a junior position.”

A learner in TEEI’s DataCamp group

What the learners say

In TEEI’s learner survey this autumn, we asked what had been most useful toward their goal, and they could pick several answers. Of the 157 who answered, 130 picked the free access. Asked how likely similar learning would have been without it in that period, 105 said somewhat or very unlikely.

Two parts. First, four bars with the number who chose each answer as most useful toward their goal, several answers allowed: free access 130, learning at my own pace 103, a clear course sequence or track 78, practical exercises 69. Second, one bar over the 157 answers to how likely similar learning would have been without free access: likely 37, not sure 15, unlikely 105, with a bracket under the last: 105 of 157, somewhat or very unlikely.
