Announcing Our Partnership with Shout Out UK:
Launching a New Media Literacy Programme for Ukrainian Youth
The Educational Equality Institute (TEEI) announces a new partnership with Shout Out UK, an organisation focused on political and media literacy for young people. The partnership launches a media literacy programme for Ukrainian youth, built into our Together for Ukraine project.
Background: Shout Out UK
Shout Out UK has reached 30,000+ young people across the UK. Its programmes build critical thinking, analytical capability, and emotional resilience: the skills needed to challenge misinformation.
Programme Goals and Curriculum
Equipping Ukrainian Youth with Media Literacy
Drawing on Shout Out UK’s experience, our programme is built to equip Ukrainian youth to recognise and counter propaganda and misinformation online. The curriculum covers:
- Far-right extremist threats
- Conspiracy theories
- Online radicalisation
- Hate speech
The programme positions media literacy as the first line of defence against extremist rhetoric online, giving young Ukrainians the tools to assess credible information.
Expanded Educational Opportunities
Enhancing Skills with Professional Mentoring and Upskilling
Alongside media literacy, the partnership will run professional mentoring and upskilling programmes. These reinforce participants’ emotional resilience and critical thinking, building the capability to address misinformation and extremist content.
Looking Forward
A Wide Educational Programme
The partnership extends the Together for Ukraine project. Together with Shout Out UK, we will give Ukrainian youth a wide educational experience that builds resilience and the critical knowledge needed in the digital age.

Media literacy is one part of TEEI’s wider education programmes for Ukrainian youth and adults. For young Ukrainians who want to build technical careers, the DataCamp partnership has given 10,000+ students free access to data science training. Adults navigating new host-country labour markets benefit from the Mentors for Ukraine programme, which matches displaced professionals with 400+ volunteer mentors from international companies. Language confidence underpins participation in all these programmes: Language Connect provides free 1-to-1 conversation practice to help learners communicate effectively in their new environment.
