He was active in the promotion of education reform in Ukraine in the 2000s – 2010s as a Director of Education Program at the International Renaissance Foundation (200-2013) and as a Director of the Institute for Education Development (2014 – 2021). Sofia is a Program Director of Lviv BookForum. She works at the Ukrainian Book Institute, as the curator of Ukraine’s national stands at International Book Fairs. She curated Ukraine’s stands at Vilnius Book Fair, Bologna Children Book Fair, London Book Fair, Paris Book Fair, Book Fair in Warsaw, and Prague Book Fair.
She hosted TV shows at the First West Chanel and Suspilne Kultura. From the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Sofia worked for the National then Ukraine Public Broadcasting Company Regional marathon as the Culture News host. Since May 2022, she has been hosting the UPBC Culture special project “Culture Instinct” – the cycle of interviews with cultural figures – about culture and war, history, and society.
Her first book translation of Václav Hrabě’s poetry collection was published in 2018 with Drunken Boat Publishing House. Her translations of Jana Orlová’s and Petr Čichoň’s collections of poems were published by the publishing house Krok in 2019 and 2020.
Awards: Laureate of Metaphor Prize for the translation of Vaclav Hrabie’s poetry selection in 2016; Winner of The 2018 Lviv City best Culture Manager Award; 30 under 30 KyivPost Award in 2019.

Prior to joining CFC Big Ideas, Oleksiy Syvak served as a Senior Consultant at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. He is also PhD in Political Science and the author of the first dissertation on the formation and implementation of Ukraine’s foreign policy (defended in 2000). My name is May, I am from Egypt. I have studied Political Science at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science [FEPS], Cairo University. I have a PhD in Political Science. I have worked as Chief Editor at the Egyptian Radio and TV Union, News Announcer at Radio Misr, Researcher at the Ministry of International Relations in Egypt, and Teaching Assistant at FEPS. My working experience gave me the chance to communicate with different people of different backgrounds as well as different projects- addressed to Egypt by the UN, IMF and WB- most importantly was the educational projects.
