Job search help for Ukrainians

Bring your CV, a cover letter or a vacancy you want to apply for. A mentor goes through them with you in an online session.

Sessions last 30, 45 or 60 minutes, online and free. Many mentors speak Ukrainian.

One session, one task

What are you bringing this week?

CV and cover letter

Bring

Your CV as it is now, and the vacancy you want to apply for. Your cover letter too, if you have already written one.

In the session

You go through the CV together section by section: what sits at the top, how long it is, what matches the vacancy.

After the session

A list of changes to your text. Next time you can show the updated version.

Interview

Bring

The interview invitation or the vacancy, and the two or three questions you dread most.

In the session

A practice interview: the mentor asks the questions, you answer out loud, and then you go through the answers together.

After the session

Answers you have already said out loud, and notes on what to change.

Common interview questions

  • Behavioural questions“Tell me about a time you faced a difficult problem at work.”
  • Questions about motivation“Why do you want to work for this company?”
  • Questions about your situation“How has your experience in Ukraine prepared you for this role?”

Career change

Bring

A short description of the work you did, and one or two roles you are thinking about.

In the session

A conversation about which of your skills carry over into the new role, and which position is a realistic place to start.

After the session

One direction you test first, and the steps for the coming weeks.

Job market

Bring

A few vacancies you like, from the country where you are looking for work.

In the session

You read the vacancies together: what the employer is really asking for, which words repeat, what your CV is missing.

After the session

A clear view of which vacancies to apply for now, and which ones you still need to prepare for.

LinkedIn

Bring

The link to your LinkedIn profile, even if it is almost empty.

In the session

The headline, the About section and your experience: what a recruiter sees in the first few seconds.

After the session

A profile that says the same as your CV.

Contacts

Bring

The field you want to work in, and the city or country where you are now.

In the session

Where to look for people in your profession: associations, communities, volunteering, events.

After the session

Two or three places you will write to or go to this month.

Open times are on the mentor’s profile.

If the mentor does not reply

A request never hangs.

The request shows until when the mentor can reply. Without a reply it closes by itself, and you choose another mentor or another time.

At first you can have one open request and two scheduled sessions. After your first completed session the platform allows more.
