Find a volunteer

How it works

Four screens from the platform, in the order you will meet them.

The volunteer list's first filter: Language, search a languageA volunteer card: Amina Hassan, business English and interview preparation. Fifteen years in corporate communications taught me what meetings, interviews and... Arabic, English, business. 5.0 from 3 reviews. Friday 2 October, 11:00. Book a session.

Choose a volunteer

Filter by language or topic and read the profiles. Each one says what the person likes to talk about, how others rated them, and when they are free next.

A request in My sessions: Friday 2 October, Emeka Obi, 16:00 to 16:30, requested. Waiting for Emeka Obi. Cancel request. Emeka Obi can respond until Fri, Oct 2, 04:00. If there is no reply, the request closes automatically and the time is released.

Pick a time

Some times are confirmed the moment you pick them. Others go to the volunteer as a request, and you hear back as soon as they answer. If there is no reply, the request closes on its own and the time is released.

Safe, and on your terms

You choose the volunteer, and you can end any conversation at any moment.

Questions people ask

Ready? Sign up ↑

Is it free?

Yes. Signing up and using the platform are free.

Who can join?

Women from Latin America and the Caribbean, wherever you live now. The platform also welcomes learners from Ukraine. If you are from another country, you can still create an account, and you may be placed on a waiting list.

Do I need to know the language already?

No. Volunteers work with every level, including complete beginners. You choose your level in your profile, so your volunteer knows where you are before you talk.

What language is the platform in?

The platform is in English. Your conversations are in the language you choose to practise.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. After two completed sessions you receive a certificate from The Educational Equality Institute that you can add to LinkedIn, share or download. New levels follow as you keep practising.

Who are the volunteers?

Adults who speak the language you are learning and give their time to talk with you. They come from many countries. They are not teachers, and this is not a class: it is a conversation. Nobody can book a volunteer until TEEI has approved them.

What if a conversation does not go well?

Book someone else next time. You can leave a call at any moment, and you can report or block a person without explaining why.

Do I book a time straight away, or send a request?

It depends on the volunteer. Some let you book a free slot directly; others ask you to send a request first and then accept it. The profile shows which.

Can I cancel or move a session?

Yes, through the platform.

Can I book the same volunteer again?

Yes. If you got on well, you can keep booking sessions with the same person.

What do I need?

A computer or a phone with internet, a camera and a microphone.

How old do I need to be?

18 or older. TEEI Language is for adults, and you confirm your age when you sign up.
