You have been through cancer. What you know cannot be taught. One Connection is looking for its first twenty mentors.
Your experience is the qualification.
Somewhere, a person has just heard the words you once heard. They will learn the waiting rooms, the side effects, the things people say that do not help. And they will wonder if anyone actually understands.
You do. That is the entire job.
You do not need a clinical background. You do not need to have answers. Mentors are people who have been through cancer themselves, are steady enough in their own recovery to hold space for someone earlier on the road, and can show up with honesty. Everything else, we train.
What you would do.
One person, matched to you. A structured six-month journey, on video.
One person, not a caseload
You are matched with one person going through cancer: same diagnosis where possible, similar treatment, compatible personalities. A person reads every application on both sides before anyone is introduced.
Conversations, not sessions
1:1 video calls about whatever they need that week: treatment, fear, work, what they watched last night. No agenda, no script. The structure holds the journey; the conversation stays human.
A six-month structured journey
Clear milestones from the first introduction call to an independent connection. Structure is what the trial record says separates peer support that works from peer support that fails.
In your language
Real-time translation on the call. The person who needs your exact experience does not have to speak your language.
Trained first. Never alone.
Being a mentor should not cost you your own recovery. The programme is built so it does not.
Training before your first match
Every mentor is trained before meeting anyone: listening, boundaries, and what peer support is and is not.
Supervision throughout
You are never carrying someone by yourself. Mentors are supervised, supported, and part of a group of people doing the same thing.
Clear escalation paths
Peer support is not therapy and not clinical care. When someone needs more than a peer can give, you know exactly when and where to refer. That line protects both of you.
This is not caution for its own sake. Trained and supervised peers are what the trial record says makes peer support work at all. The training is the programme.

One Connection launches in 2026 as a designed feasibility pilot: 50 participants, 20 trained mentors, transplant survivors first. Mentor training happens before the first match.
