Volunteer to teach English online. No TEFL required.
If you can have a conversation, you can do this. One-to-one practice with an adult learner, not curriculum teaching, and fluent English is the only requirement.

ESL volunteer opportunities, from anywhere.

Your evening can be her morning: the platform pairs hours that fit, and the same slot repeats each week. Call it an ESL tutor volunteer role or simply an hour of conversation; the work is the same.
Remote · your calendarIf you can have this conversation, you can volunteer.
The learners do not need a grammarian; they need a real person who listens and answers. Staff talk with every volunteer before the first session, and your LinkedIn verifies who you are, so learners know who they are meeting too.
A session is
Her week. The interview on Thursday. The sentences she only knows on paper.
A session is never
Lesson plans. Grammar drills. Grading or homework.
You will not need a script.
A first session, in three lines. You will need what you already have: patience, curiosity and your own English.
Example session · illustrative
“So what happened with the job application?”
“I have interview on Thursday… interview makes me nervous.”
“Then let’s practise. I’ll be the interviewer.”
And the sessions count
Every session builds a real TEEI Credential on its own public verification page. Heidi reached Master Language Volunteer at 243 sessions.
Your first credential is issued after two sessions. Added to LinkedIn in one click.

Who you’d be
The volunteers are people with a language and the time.
Charmaine is one of them: not a trained teacher, a real person who shows up every week. The learners are adults with everything to say and no one to say it to; what is missing is a person to practise with.
“It gives them an opportunity to speak to a native English speaker, and they practice their English and it builds their confidence.”Charmaine De’Ath · Volunteer & language partner

Questions people ask before they start.
Do I need a TEFL certificate?
No. This is one-to-one conversation practice, not curriculum teaching, so there is no certificate requirement and no teaching experience required. Fluent English is enough. If you are a trained teacher who wants a full class, we have a separate programme for that too.
What does a session look like?
A video call of 30 to 45 minutes with the same learner each week. You talk about their week, their job search, whatever they need to say out loud in English. No lesson plans, no grading.
Who are the learners?
Adults: Ukrainian refugees rebuilding their lives in Europe, and women in South America building a professional voice. They study English on their own; you are the practice they cannot get anywhere else.
Do I get a certificate for my volunteering?
Yes. Your sessions build a real TEEI Credential with its own public verification page, added to LinkedIn in one click, and a staff-signed hours statement prints from the same record.
