Volunteer · Skills Academy

What you know could change someone's next chapter.

Adults 18 and older: teacher, engineer, craftsperson, accountant, marketer, chef, community organiser or something else entirely. Every subject is welcome for consideration. Still working or retired, you can share what you know in a live session or help develop learning materials.

What you'd do

Teach from what you know, not just the job you hold.

One live session at a time on TEEI's own platform. Bring the examples, methods and lessons you know from work, a trade, community life or years of experience. Teaching qualifications are not required.

Teaching your own product? Welcome, as one option. The session says so on its page, and teaches the skill, not the sale. Participants' details are never shared with your employer.

What you know

The campaign brief you wrote this week
Her first marketing plan, read by someone who writes them.
The CVs you screened last month
The other side of the hiring desk.
The lessons you learned before retirement
A shortcut for somebody entering your field today.
The workshop, kitchen or community group you know by heart
Practical know-how another person can put to use.

Someone needs exactly what you know.

Your field

Any subject you know well.

These twelve fields help organise sessions; they are examples, not limits. Your subject could come from a job, a trade, voluntary work, a hobby or a lifetime of experience. People who are retired are welcome.

The shapes

Four shapes of the same hour.

Every live format brings together someone willing to share a skill and people learning it. You choose how to contribute, from a single webinar to a recurring class.

01A webinarOne session · Live questions

One expert, one hour, live questions from people training toward your field. The smallest real commitment on this page.

02A classSame small group · Weekly

A small group, live on video, building your subject across a season. You watch the same people get visibly better.

03A one-off sessionSmall group or one person · Booked once

One knowledge session, once: a small group on a topic from your field, or one learner and the thing she cannot practise alone, her CV in your industry, the interview for the job she wants.

04MentorshipSame person · Months

The same experienced person, across months of her rebuild: the long version of sharing what you know. Big enough to be its own programme: TEEI Mentorship.

You pick the shape when you apply, and change it any time. There is no fixed number of hours here: the shape you choose is the commitment you make.

Not on camera

Course materials: lessons others can teach from.

Prefer writing to being on camera? Write exercises, guides, slides or reading for Skills Academy courses, in your own time. No live teaching.

Tell us your subject and what you would like to make. A person on the team reads every message.

The other side of the hour

She studies through the power cuts. Displaced professionals, most of them women, retraining into marketing, HR, finance, design, data and code: your field, from zero footing in a new country. What is missing is you.

The room

You teach the hour. We build the rest.

Skills Academy runs on the platform TEEI built for its language and mentoring programmes. You bring the field; everything around the hour is handled.

The matchWe fill your room. Learners find your session by field and level; you never recruit an audience.
The bookingScheduling is ours. You give windows; the calendar and time zones are handled.
The live roomTEEI's own video room, in the browser. Nothing to install, nothing to configure.
The first hourYou are not alone in it. A coordinator sets up your first session with you and stays reachable.

How it starts

Four steps, one of them ours.

01

Apply

About five minutes: import your profile from LinkedIn or type it in. Your field, your experience, the shapes that fit.

02

A person reads it

Not a filter. A real review, and we will be in touch.

03

Pick your shape

Webinar, class, session, or mentorship, and your first date. Change the shape whenever your life changes.

04

The room opens

Your field, live, to the people who need exactly it. A coordinator is in the wings for your first hour.

Before you ask

Questions volunteers ask.

Do I need teaching experience?

No. You need something useful to teach and a willingness to share it. The formats give each session structure; TEEI reviews proposed subjects and supports the first session.

What could I teach?

Anything you know well enough to teach: languages, practical trades, history, finance, business, science, crafts, arts, technology and more. The twelve fields above organise sessions; they do not limit what you can propose.

Does every subject get published?

Not automatically. A person at TEEI reads every application and decides whether the subject fits what learners on Skills Academy need right now. Some subjects may be published later, and course materials can be another way to share them.

Can I teach if I am retired or not currently working?

Yes. Your experience may come from a former career, a practical trade, a community project or years spent developing a skill. You do not need a current job title. We review each proposed subject, and you can also help create course materials instead of teaching live.

What platform does it run on?

TEEI's own. The same video rooms that carry our language and mentoring programmes carry Skills Academy sessions. For you it is a browser link; there is nothing to install and no account to buy.

Can my company send a team?

Yes. Companies place their specialists as teachers through skill volunteering: one page for that is here. If your organisation is a partner, your hours also count in its report.

What if I can only do it once?

Then teach one webinar. One hour, once, is a real contribution here, and nobody will chase you for a second one. Most volunteers decide the shape of their next hour after they have given the first.

Out of reasons?

Teach the hour only you can.

Share what you know, from wherever you are. Your experience does not expire at retirement.

Questions first? volunteering@theeducationalequalityinstitute.org

Share one thing you know.

What you do
Propose a focused subject session, a series or asynchronous learning materials. Practical and academic subjects are welcome, for example logistics, accounting, marketing or trade skills. These examples are not a schedule.
Who it is for
Adults aged 18 or over with relevant experience. Current employment, a teaching title and LinkedIn are not general requirements. TEEI reviews the instructor application.
Contribute or learn
The instructor owns the subject teaching. A moderator or producer helps the session run and has a different job. Career guidance uses the mentor route.
How you meet
One live subject session, a series or asynchronous content. Choose the format that fits your contribution.
Language
State which language you can teach or create materials in; this is agreed for the offering.
Time and recurrence
Propose availability and agree preparation and delivery. A one-off contribution differs from a recurring series. An application is not a confirmed booking.
Your first meeting
After the subject and plan are agreed and teaching access is in place, deliver the agreed session. Moderator support follows a different assignment. For materials, agree delivery and feedback without promising a live meeting.
Getting started
Propose a subject session through the instructor application using LinkedIn or email. Use the materials route for asynchronous work. For moderator work, use the actually published operational roles.

From the activity catalogue

No specific session is confirmed in this lookup. The programme links show the next option; this is not a promise of available places.
